Cooler Master Hyper 612 v2 – Test and Review

Cooler Master Hyper series is one of the oldest and the biggest series included in the company portfolio already featuring several very good products and now the company decided to expand the series further and add the new Cooler Master Hyper 612 v2. The libation itself is actually a completely redesigned version of the Hyper 612 product, which was released back in 2011 and according to my feel with the product, information technology was performing pretty good for its dimensions. Unfortunately, now the model is with status end of life, but the good news is that at present we have a successor. If it is a worthy one, we will find out a bit afterward.

Co-ordinate to the official technical details the new product offers pretty serious rut sink structure meant to be much more than cooling efficient, while working at lower noise level with similar dimensions than the older model.

For this review I am going to check what Cooler Master Hyper 612 v2 has to offer in thing of structure, features and near of all cooling capabilities, but first let's check the parcel, the boosted information provided for the libation and the boosted accessories.

IMG_9828

Cooler Master Hyper 612 v2 was provided to me for doing a exam and review in a pretty massive and at the same time very fashionable looking cubical carton box painted in black and white. On the front end side of the box there is a huge picture of the cooler, of course the visitor logo, the model proper name and some bones compatibility details regarding the product.

Pretty typical for the company is to make full all other sides of the bundle with the full technical specification on one of the sides, while all other sides contain detailed caption and additional information regarding the cooler in several languages.

Anyway, the box looks pretty nice and stylish but afterwards all this review is not about it but almost the content within of it. So allow'south open the package and check all of the parts forming the Cooler Master Hyper 612 v2 CPU cooler.

After I opened the outer trounce of the parcel, the first thing to detect was the very detailed installation manual provided with the product and of course the warranty leaflet describing the warranty terms for this model. Beneath the two leaflets there was the typical for the company white box holding all of the additional accessories and right side by side to it there were the 2 plastic brackets meant to be used for installing the fan to the oestrus sink. Both the white box and the plastic brackets were placed on a carton bed and right below it there were the 120mm fan and the heat sink itself.

After I took all of the parts which I found inside the box and arranged them for taking a picture, this is the view which I got.

The cooler itself together with the Blade Master fan, installation transmission, 2 plastic fan brackets, warranty leaflet and of course a white carton box holding the additional accessories which will exist needed and so the libation tin be used with all modernistic Intel or AMD sockets.

Cooler Master Hyper 612 v2 Boosted ACCESSORIES

First things starting time, so let's discover what is hidden within the white box, which is actually made to agree all of the boosted accessories. All of them were provided to me carefully packed in carve up nylon numberless just to guarantee that every single piece part of the accessories pack will arrive and will provide the all-time possible cooling compatibility.

After I took all of the accessories out of their packages and bundled them for taking pictures, this is the view I got.

After I'd finished describing all of the boosted accessories I was like, oh my god! And then far I have never seen so many additional accessories provided with any libation from the brand. Anyway this only proves the quality and the compatibility options that this cooler provides.

I believe the time to start checking the libation structure itself  has arrived and for that reason I will leave the additional accessories aside and pay some attention to the cooler itself. Just for now.

Libation Master Hyper 612 v2 Oestrus SINK STRUCTURE

Cooler Main Hyper 612 v2, similar every other modernistic CPU cooler on the marketplace, offers very standard structure, made of the three major components which as usual I am going to describe 1 past one in this article and that includes: the rut sink construction formed every bit a very massive unmarried tower, a single Blade Principal cooling fan and a bit modified mounting kit.

And so let's start with the estrus sink which is actually the function doing the magic.

Cooler Master Hyper 612 v2 is designed as a very quiet or fifty-fifty passive working cooler with a single radiator structure made of aluminum contact plate, vi x Ø6mm copper rut pipes with direct contact with the processor, and of course aluminum fins forming the cooling surface. The overall cooler dimensions are 160.four mm (H) x 150.1 mm (Due west) x 128.ix mm (D) mm and weight of 886 thousand including the fan.

And to follow the tradition, let'southward start with the contact plate since it is the main part of the cooler which is responsible for keeping the processor running cool and quiet.

IMG_9853

The contact surface for this production is made of aluminum plate, formed as a minor oestrus sink on the meridian side, property in line on the lesser side the 6 x Ø6mm asymmetrical to the centre of the cooler, copper U-shaped heat-pipes without any coating and made with the CDC (Continous Direct Contact) technology. A technology designed and patented by Cooler Master for gap free contact plate structure just to provide polish surface and the optimal oestrus conduction from the processor through the estrus pipes and to the aluminum fins.

Of grade, this blazon of estrus pipe design is made with one purpose only and that is to move the aluminum fins stack a chip to the dorsum of the case and away from the DRAM slots so it doesn't cake any of them and to provide the best possible motherboard compatibility. Of course, I will discover a bit later if this really works.

All of the rut pipes pass through the inner side of the fin stack, closer to the center of the cooler for maximum fin usage and faster rut dispersion, while the back side of the cooler is simply made equally additional aluminum cooling surface.

And by mentioning the fin stack, permit'due south bank check its structure.

Libation Master Hyper 612 v2 is made every bit a unmarried tower cooler offering pretty serious aluminum fin stack structure with dimensions of 102 mm (H) x 139 mm (W) x 102 mm (D) each and overall radiator dimensions of 160.4 mm (H) x 139 mm (Due west) 10 102 mm (D) and weight of 732g without the fan. The heat sink itself is equipped with 31 aluminum fins, 1mm thick with 3 mm fin gap, which are asymmetrically assembled to the centre of the cooler. Every bit usual for Cooler Master and not only for them, the superlative fin is non only a operation fin but it is actually property the engraved company logo only to boost the overall appearance of the cooler and advertise the brand.

Anyway, here I saw something which made me smile and that is really the huge fin gap which is made to provide the best cooling functioning with a 120mm fan working around 1200 or lower revolutions per minute. Additionally, according to Cooler Principal the model can be used fifty-fifty every bit a passive cooler but I doubt it will handle an overclocked processor, especially AMD Vishera FX-8350, which I use for my tests.

And here comes the interesting part regarding the heat sink and the overall cooler performance.

The starting time eight fins counted from the bottom are 12mm shorter on the back side of the cooler so the cooler doesn't block and of the VRM oestrus sinks or DRAM slots on the motherboard when the cooler is installed on socket 2011 with ram modules featuring tall heat spreaders.

With this heat sink construction the cooler is good to be used with merely one 120mm fan installed on the front end side of the cooler but apart from that a second one could be fastened for the ultimate cooling performance. Just if a second fan is attached, the libation volition be very big and most probably volition block the DRAM slots if it is installed on socket 2011 and volition encompass all of the motherboard components around the socket for all motherboards both from Intel and AMD.

And by mentioning the fan, let's talk about it.

The standard Cooler Master Hyper 612 v2 package offers just 1 Cooler Primary Bract Master fan with dimensions of 120 ten 25 mm and weight of 154g, entirely painted in black matte and featuring a square plastic frame and propeller with 7 very wide and at the aforementioned fourth dimension very sharply angled blades made to provide the all-time possible performance / static level balance. The fan itself is really a modified Cooler Master Blade Chief model fabricated to operate betwixt 800 – 1300± ten% revolutions per infinitesimal range, providing airflow level range of 45.2 – 75m³/h ± 10%, static pressure range of 0.6 – 1.6 ± x% mmH2o at simply 11 – xx dBa level range.

The connection betwixt the frame and the propeller is done by the typical for the visitor burglarize bearing, which is 4-pin PWM powered and regulated by a pretty long, entirely sleeved in black cable and co-ordinate to the official technical details is made to provide up to 40 000 hours of life span.

Apart from that, the fan can be attached to the heat sink with 2 dissimilar mounting clips.

The first type is really the two entirely painted in black plastic brackets, which should be fastened to the fan with 4 screws and the other mode is with 2 metallic clips.

Before I continue with the tests I will have to install the fan and set up the cooler for installation on the motherboard. And to install the fan to the oestrus sink I decided to use the black plastic brackets because they look more rigid and much better for the overall appearance of the product.

The first thing, which I had to do before I attached the fan to the heat sink was to install the two brackets on each side of the fan and fasten them with four screws. After that I added 2 of the rubber stickers to make the connexion betwixt the brackets and the heat sink a bit softer and to reduce the vibrations, of grade if there are whatsoever.

IMG_9860

And this is what the fan looks like attached to the heat sink.

IMG_9862

With all of the parts assembled together, the cooler looks really massive and I look to see some serious cooling performance. As I've said before in this commodity a second fan could be attached for maximum performance with the second blazon of clips. Of course, with the 2nd fan fastened it volition block all components around the socket, which will exist beneath the libation.

A construction like this volition definitely require very massive and reliable mounting kit and I believe I am finally prepare to install the libation on the motherboard.

According to the official technical details the cooler is compatible with all modern sockets on the marketplace including:

  1. Intel sockets: LGA 2011 / 1366 / 1156 / 1155 / 1150 /775
  2. AMD sockets: FM2+ / FM2 / AM3+ / AMD3 / AM2+ / AM2

For doing the tests I will use the AMD brackets and these are the parts needed so the cooler can exist installed on the motherboard:

IMG_9842

As always, before I get-go with the actual installation, I opened the installation manual, read carefully the instructions and pick up the correct accessories for the actual socket.

And after that I had to gear up the back plate before attaching it to the motherboard.

To install the back plate to the motherboard, get-go affair to practise was to put the 4 short metal bolts through the dorsum plate and carefully secure them in place with the 4 plastic caps.

IMG_9867

Adjacent step is to install the back plate behind the motherboard and just spike it with the 4 ten thumbscrew pillars needed for the AMD platforms.

And here comes the interesting role. For AMD there are two ways to install the cooler.

  1. Vertical  – so the fan face up the DRAM modules and to practice information technology like this we demand the 2 10 long metal AMD forepart brackets
  2. Horizontal – so the fan face the graphic card and to do it similar this we need the 2 x short metal AMD front end brackets

And I really believe that information technology is much better to have the cooler installed in vertical position, then I've decided to use the 2 x long metal AMD frond brackets, which should be fastened on top of the thumbscrew pillars with nuts.

With the two brackets installed, side by side step was to add some thermal compound, add the boosted thumbscrew pillar with boosted inner screw on one of the metallic brackets and here comes the most interesting part regarding the cooler mounting kit.

IMG_9873

On the top side of the smaller aluminum contact plate, which is formed as a heat sink holding the heat pipes, there is a pre-installed metal bar which has a prune on 1 side and on the other side it should exist attached to the fifth colonnade installed on one of the metal brackets. Pretty interesting and at the aforementioned time a flake strange fashion to mount a cooler.

Whether this is effective, we are going to observe out a bit later on.

And this is what the cooler looks like installed on the motherboard.

As you can see from the pic above, when the heat sink is installed on the motherboard the design of the cooler, combined with the standard fan attached volition not block any of the front DIMM slots and will provide total depression profile RAM compatibility and high profile RAM compatibility for all Intel, apart from socket 2011 and AMD socket,.

Libation Main Hyper 612 v2TESTS

With the CPU cooler installed on the motherboard, I believe the time to check my testing rig has arrived and then I should keep the article with the tests…

CPU: AMD Vishera FX-8350

  1. At standard frequency 4.020 MHz (at 1.356V)
  2. At low overclock frequency of iv.220 MHz  (at 1.392V)
  3. At medium overclock frequency of 4.420 MHz (at 1.416V)

Motherboard: GigaByte 990FXA-UD3

Video menu: 2 ten Gigabyte GV-R927XOC-2GD

Retention: 2 x 4GB Geil Black Dragon 1866 MHz

Hard drive: Kingston SSD SV100S264G

Case: SilverStone Raven RV-03

Power supply: Antec HCP-750W

Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 612 v2

Thermal paste: Noctua NT-H1 thermal chemical compound

For this test and review I am going to use the standard Blade Main fan provided with the cooler, working at speed range of 800 – 1300± 10% revolutions per minute, providing airflow level range of 45.2 – 75m³/h ± 10%, static pressure level level range of 0.half dozen – 1.6 ± 10% mmH2o at only 11 – 20 dBa level range.
The tests were conducted in a closed system with:

  1. 2 x SilverStone AP181 – 180mm fans on the bottom panel of the instance putting fresh air in and spinning at nearly 1200 rpm
  2. 120mm fan behind the motherboard cooling the socket and spinning at about grand rpm.

Room temperature of virtually twenty degrees.

Both SilverStone AP181 – 180mm fans were connected together to the chassis 1 connector and were rotating at maximum speed.

And here I want to describe my testing method.

I will install Cooler Master Hyper 612 v2 and do stress tests using Prime95 AVX software with constant load on the libation for 14:xxx minutes with custom settings of minimum FFT size (in G of 128), max FFT size (in Thou of 128) and Run FFTs in place at standard frequency of 4.020 GHz (at 1.356V), at low overclock frequency of 4.220 GHz (at 1.392V) and at medium overclock frequency of four.420 GHz (at 1.416V) using:

  1. The standard Blade Master working at high speed of 1300 revolutions per minute
  2. Coolink SWiF2 fan working at maximum 1700 revolutions per minute just to bank check if the cooler will provide additional performance with faster 120mm fan.

And this is what the CPU cooler looks like when installed inside the case and ready for testing.

Hell, this libation is so massive. It is like a foursquare metal block roofing the processor and everything effectually the socket.

Now let'southward check out the examination results:

I believe it is time to express my thoughts well-nigh this cooler:

Cooler Primary Hyper 612 v2CONCLUSIONS

1. Cooler Chief Hyper 612 5 ii performance:

Later I've spent several hours unpacking Libation Master Hyper 612 v2, all of the additional accessories included in the package, taking pictures with all of them arranged, installing the product on the motherboard and inside the case and finally after I am done testing, I tin say that I am really amazed with the accessories pack, the structure of the cooler and most of all of the performance / dissonance level remainder that this product will offer to every customer worldwide.

Cooler Master Hyper 612 v2 is one really modernistic and at the same time very massive CPU libation offer really interesting structure featuring very well designed contact plate, property in line the 6 x Ø6mm asymmetrical to the center of the cooler, copper heat-pipes fabricated with the CDC engineering science, combined with 31 aluminum 1mm thick fins with 3mm distance gap and cooled past a very well balanced in respect to airflow/ depression noise fan made to provide the best possible cooling operation, while working at very low, and I hateful very low noise level and compatibility for its size.

After I am washed testing, all I can say is that Cooler Chief Hyper 612 v2 was able to keep my processor working at all kinds of frequencies without any issue, and since I am using i of the hottest processors on the market place I believe it will handle keeping every modernistic processor working absurd, stable and well-nigh of all admittedly tranquility at idle or nether load and at default or overclocked frequencies.

Apart from that the Blade Master fan provided in the bundle, working at 1300 revolutions per minute is capable of providing pretty serious cooling for the heat sink just for farthermost cooling a faster fan can improve the overall cooling operation to a college level. Of form, nobody cares about the racket if they are chasing the farthermost frequencies of any processor made for overclocking.

The cooler itself is suitable to be used with ane or with 2 fans using the button-pull method for all Intel and AMD sockets, apart from socket 2011 which may accept DRAM issues with a 2d fan and tall ram oestrus spreaders.

For me the cooler provided actually outstanding cooling performance and I expect to see only better products from the visitor in the future.

2. Libation Master Hyper 612 v2 appearance:

Afterward I had some fun with the cooler and afterward installed it inside my rig I was really impressed with the overall libation dimensions, which definitely make the cooler look actually, I mean actually serious. The libation itself offers a very clean and stylish appearance fabricated of a shiny silvery heat sink combined with entirely painted in black fan which will definitely fit and will add together color dissimilarity to every modern entirely painted in black case or modding project.

According to my review, I call back that Libation Chief Hyper 612 v2 deserves the post-obit reward:
